Street Hypnosis for Everyone: Join Me at UKHC in London

What makes a hypnotic suggestion become a real experience for someone?

That question is at the heart of my upcoming session, Street Hypnosis for Everyone, at the UK Hypnosis Convention in London on 15 November 2026.

Looking beyond the induction

We often approach street hypnosis by looking for techniques: finger magnets, rapid inductions, the right words at the right moment. These can be useful tools. But learning the steps of an induction does not necessarily help us understand what happens when someone responds—or what to do when they don’t.

Street hypnosis changed the way I think about hypnosis. It encouraged me to look more closely at the experience we create together with the participant, and at the role of focus in making a suggestion feel real.

For years, hypnosis has been explained in terms of getting past the conscious mind or “bypassing the critical faculty”. In my session, I’ll invite you to explore a different perspective: hypnosis as a way of creating experiences through focus.

A session you can take part in

Think of a hand that feels stuck, or an imagined rope that seems to pull someone’s arm. The interesting moment is when the participant begins to experience the suggestion as something happening to them. What helps that experience develop? What are they focusing on? And how can we support their response?

These questions have practical consequences. They shift our attention towards the person in front of us and help us use techniques with greater understanding and flexibility.

This will be a practical, participatory session. Through live demonstrations with volunteers and guided exercises, we’ll explore ways to create hypnotic experiences in everyday settings.

We’ll work with rapid inductions and demonstrational effects, without relying on long scripts, elaborate props or a formal setting. You’ll have opportunities to practise, observe responses and connect what you do with what the participant experiences.

My aim is for you to leave with useful skills and a clearer understanding of how to apply them—whether at a social gathering, during a presentation or, where appropriate, as an icebreaker in your coaching.

Keeping the participant at the centre

Spontaneous hypnosis still deserves a thoughtful approach. Consent, comfort and respect are central to creating an experience that people enjoy taking part in.

For me, a successful demonstration gives the participant room to discover something surprising about their own experience. That sense of curiosity is part of what makes street hypnosis so rewarding, both to practise and to share.
